Installing Windows XP Pro using Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005

I didn’t have an actual disc for Windows XP Pro, but I did have a Chinese version of it with a serial key.  When I was fixing Dexter’s sister’s computer, I wasn’t going to install Chinese Windows for them.  I had a Windows XP Tablet Edition disc, but no key.  So I figured, what the hey, why don’t I use the key from the Chinese version and use it on the tablet edition.  What I found was that only Windows XP Pro English version was installed.  Maybe it was because I used an XP Pro key.  Either way, here is how to do it.

  1. Insert Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 disc into computer and install Windows as normal
  2. When the installation asks for a serial number, use the one written on the Chinese XP Pro disc.
  3. Win

I have a copy of both downstairs in the boxes of CD’s behind Sam.
